Early life:
Bill Lawrence is borned and raised in Ridgefield, Connecticut. He studied creative writing at the College of William and Mary and aspired to be a writer. While in college, Bill dreamed of writing the great American novel. After graduating from William and Mary College in Williamsburg, Virginia in 1990 with a degree in English, he hopped into his Jeep and drove back to California with only one goal in mind: he wanted to be a writer.
A family friend and television writer Norman Barasch was impressed by Bill's gift for dialogue and advised him to write for television, so he moved to Los Angeles and began working on scripts. After several months, he was signed by the managers of Jerry Seinfeld, and his career began to take off. Bill succeeded in landing his first job as Staff Writer on a sitcom.

Career:
Lawrence wrote his first television script at the age of 22 for the comedy series Billy, starring Billy Connolly. His career began to skyrocket when he became a staff writer on NBC’s Friends during its first season. By age 26, he had teamed with Gary David Goldberg to co-create Spin City. In addition to Scrubs, Lawrence is the executive producer and co-creator of the animated television series Clone High.

Personal life:
When Bill first met Christa Miller, it was at a party in May 1998 and she already had a boyfriend. He made her promise to call him if they broke up. She did and he is now married to Scrubs star Christa Miller. They were married on November 27, 1999 at the chapel at the Convent of the Sacred Heart. Sacred Heart is also the name of the hospital on his show, Scrubs. Bill and his wife have three children, Charlotte Sarah (born June 8, 2000), William Stoddard (born January 3, 2003), and Henry Vanduzer (born October 8, 2006)
